Andrew Reid, son of reggae superstar Junior Reid, takes center stage backed by the Pure Roots band to deliver a hard set of roots reggae, dancehall, and lively rhythms. Also known as Andrew Blood, Reid and Pure Roots performed at Ashkenaz in April as part of a 7-city tour with Daniel Bambaata Marley, son of Bob Marley.

Santa Cruz reggae band Pure Roots came together in 2007 to produce authentic reggae music, capturing a spiritual sound and emphasizing strong melodies and heavenly harmonies. It’s roots reggae music that’s being pushed to new limits. The band released their first single “Jah The Highest” and the dub remix “Jah The Dubbest” in January 2012. They are currently in the studio working on the album “Youth Rising,” featuring Andrew and his brother Wada and their father Junior Reid, to be released later this year.
