Ashkenaz Music & Dance Community Center is hosting a Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival afterparty on October 1st, 2022, with Cedric Watson. The event will feature a vegetarian Cajun dinner catered by Angeline’s Louisiana Kitchen, and a Cajun and Zydeco dance lesson followed by an evening of live music and dancing.

This special event, hosted by 2022 East Bay Express’s “Best Dance Club”, will center around traditional Cajun Creole music and culture and transport audience members straight to Louisiana with a performance from one of the brightest young talents to emerge in Cajun, Creole and Zydeco (Louisiana French) music over the last decade.

Cedric Watson is a four-time Grammy-nominated fiddler, singer, accordionist & songwriter with seemingly unlimited potential. Cedric has performed music in 17 countries and on 7 full-length albums with various groups, including the Pine Leaf Boys, Corey Ledet, Les Amis Creole with Ed Poullard and J.B. Adams, and with his own group, Bijou Creole.  Cedric Watson resurrects the ancient sounds of the French and Spanish contra dance and bourré alongside the spiritual rhythms of the Congo tribes of West Africa.

Cedric Watson will perform and lead a dance lesson at Ashkenaz on Saturday, October 1st. The night’s schedule is as follows: Early Seating and Dinner at 6:30pm, Doors at 7:30pm, Zydeco and Cajun Dance Lesson at 8:00pm, and a performance at 8:30pm.
