The Funky Gators is composed of Cajun/Zydeco and R&B veterans that have been playing in the Bay Area for over 30 years. They combine elements of Funk, R&B Soul and Disco into the infectious, foot tapping sounds of Zydeco. The funky Gators know how to add fun to your event and keep the beat going to keep the dance floor filled. The Funky Gators are one of the few Zydeco bands that have the musical flexibility to play strictly Zydeco, or toss in Jazz, funk, and old school R&B to meet your needs without missing a beat.

The Funky Gators was founded by Dana Mandell and Myrna Cooper as the front line of accordion and rubboard. Add to that the soulful and powerful vocals of Myrna and some of the best backline in the Bay Area to round out the band.

The most common configuration of the band is Accordion, Rubboard, Keyboards, drums, bass, electric guitar.
