When fiddler Joseph "Bebe" Carriere passed away from a heart attack in 2001, it was considered the end of a musical era. Bebe and his brother Eraste Carriere were masters of the old-time style called "la la" music, and as the Carriere Brothers were a bridge from traditional Creole styles to the later, but still rural, zydeco style.
Fortunately Bebe left a family legacy of musicians, including his son Andrew who developed his accordion playing in the family legacy while residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. Andrew has since passed that musical tradition down to multiple generations of Bay Area musicians.
Tonight Andrew, joined by Andre Nigoghossian (Fiddle/Accordion), Max Lopez (Bass/Accordion), and Tim Orr (Drums) and special guests, will explore a set of music focused on the unique repertoire of the Carriere Brothers and the generations of Creole music they influenced.
