Māh Ze Tār (2015) is a musical fusion project by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Maz Karandish. This project was propelled by the vision of fusing traditional Eastern music with modern electronic composition as a form of cultural preservation.
The first project, Liquid Lotus, was an illumination of the possible ways in which musical fusion, inspired by Indian Raga music, could come into form in a way that creates a deeper connection with non-traditional listeners. The second project, Reeshe (Roots), further expanded this notion and went on to reimagine nostalgic Persian melodies, based in Radif and Maqam, with tasteful electronic additions that create a bridge for the listener.
Duo Animal Prince brings a refreshingly retro vibe to contemporary soul/pop. Their dynamic arrangements, led by vocal, violin, vibraphone, synths, and percussion, are as introspective as they are retrospective. Fae Nageon de Lestang and Grant McLeod matured their sound with playful and emotional dreamscapes while writing and recording inside their geodesic dome home in Northern California.
Romane & Gaël are a husband and wife experimental electronic-pop duo from Reunion Island. Their diversity of skills and styles are apparent in their varied approaches to sound - both lean into classical training with skill and finesse, and their keen ears weave in modern electronic elements that bring depth to the songs. With soothing vocals and sharp tones, the duo explores and expands their musicianship with acoustic flows, harmonious acapella, and electronic beats. Romane & Gaël beautifully balance the ephemeral line between electronic music and classical foundations.
