Sukhawat Ali Khan , son of Indian-Pakistani vocalist Ustad Salamat Ali Khan and nephew of Nazakat Ali Khan, is a classical singer of Sham Chaurasia gharana tradition, as well as a performer of North Indian and Pakistani classical music and related folk music
Based in the SF Bay Area, MAKURU is an African music group with roots in the joyful music of Senegal and the bluesy feel of Mali. This dynamic band blends African melodies and rhythms with driving funk beats for an infectious tribal experience of pulsing rhythm & dance that no one can resist. The band features singer and dancer Ousseynou Kouyate from the National Ballet of Senegal.
